Hey Yaeger! Where are we speaking to you from right now? What’ve you been up to this week?
Hey Liv! At the moment I’m on a bus in Stockholm on my way to rehearse with my band. I’m dropping a single on Friday so just busy with the release in between rehearsing, doing press/media, styling, gigs, all the FUN shit I suddenly get to do with this job. And on top of that trying to get a tan, girl I’m pale like a pig!
Shit We Do For Love is an absolute summer banger! What was it like to collaborate with Icona Pop and how did you feel when you found out you would be working together?
Thank you! Caroline and Aino (Icona Pop) are absolute legends. I wrote a single for them called ‘We Got That Cool’ back in 2019, and we’ve been working together since. And when we wrote this a couple months back it just made a lot of sense for us three to drop it! It’s been so much fun seeing everything come together so quickly, I feel like the lil sis with big wide eyes taking everything in and learning from the pro’s.
Tell us a bit about the process of creating the song and how the final product makes you feel?
It was a different production at first, and then we changed it to what it is now. It goes way harder. I just wanna party when I hear it now, but like.. aggressively??
Will we be getting a Shit We Do For Love music video?
You never knooowww… ;)
What is the music scene like in Sweden? How would you say it compares to London?
I’d say it’s been popping since ABBA. Haha. But the live scene though!! It’s slowly dying. But there are small festivals/booking agents trying to lift up and comers, throwing club nights, etc. Just wish there was more of a ‘yo I’m going to see this band play let’s grab a beer’ type of culture. That just doesn’t exist here.
How would you describe the fundamental vibe of your sound as an artist?
I call it ‘Emotional Rave Pop’. And that’s the vibe :)
What have been some of your best moments as a musician so far?
Playing a show on the Farroe Islands in rain. That view with all the green hills covered in moss and all these Farroe Islanders raving about singing along to the music was insane.
What are you excited for this summer?
Playing ‘Shit We Do For Love’ with Icona Pop on Lollapalooza in Stockholm!!! Apparently after Diplo?
Which artists are on your current listening rotation?
Overmono, Starrah, Róisín Murphy, Tove Lo.
Do you have any pre-show rituals?
Nope.. maybe I should??
What’s your go to snack?
Cheese Crunchers!! But Swedish. Not the ones you got. They’re called Ostbågar.
Lastly, how do you see yourself and your work evolving in the future?
Tours, being a support act to someone I look up to, collaborating with people who are great at what they do, keep learning and developing. Find my crowd, the people who are supposed to hear my music. Once we find each other in this big world, I think we’ll do things that haven’t been done before :) and just have a sexi great time!!! Getting off the bus now and I’m late haha, ciaoooo!
